- 软卧车每辆10个包厢，共40个铺位，包房内增加小件行李空间，并增加插座数量。
- 新CRH2E列车，设有设有13节软卧车，2节二等座车和1节软卧/餐车合造车。
- 下层卧铺是抽拉式结构，具备“座卧两用”功能，可灵活转换为座位，作为座位使用时，可将床铺的一部分宽度折起作为靠背的一部分，同时还提供扶手，而作为卧铺使用时又可恢复床铺宽度，使得动车组既可在夜间以卧车运营，也能在日间以卧代座的形式运营，每个下铺可以作为三个座位使用，提高了卧铺动车组的利用率，也提高乘坐舒适性。
- 针对长距离客运特点，新型卧铺动车组增加了大量的人性化设计，乘坐更加舒适便捷。
- 卧铺包间内设施齐备，除了阅读灯，还新增衣帽钩、书报架和卧铺挡板等人性化设施，并增加插座数量。
- 新型卧铺动车组司机室里设有专用卧铺，供轮乘司机休息，中间车厢则设计了供旅客休闲使用的餐吧。
